Tower City

“The Lord is a mighty tower where His people can run for safety.” Proverbs 18:10

Shout “Grace, Grace” to Your Mountain!

“So, big mountain, who do you think you are?…you’re nothing but a molehill.”   (Zec 4:7 MSG)

At Tower City Church, we are setting apart the month of January, the first month of this new year, and every Monday morning, the first day of the work week, to worship, declare and agree together in prayer from 6-7am.  It’s a great way to start the year…and the week!  We’re calling it “Fresh Start” and this morning was indeed just that!  You just never can tell what the Lord will say and do as we gather together in His mighty name.  As you read on, may you share in and embrace this encouraging prophetic moment for your life and future.

The prophet Zechariah declared to the people of God as they were facing a great “mountain” of seemingly insurmountable proportion and impossible , “This is God’s Message… ‘You can’t force these things. They only come about through my Spirit,’  Another translation says, “I am the LORD All-Powerful. So don’t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.”

Then to that great foundational promise he added, “For that mountain in front of you will be leveled to the ground.”  Another translation says, “Obstacles as great as mountains will disappear before you.”

Then the prophet instructed the leaders and the all the people to do something a bit out of the ordinary…they were exhorted to begin to prophetically shout “Grace, grace”, or “Beautiful, beautiful”, or  “Blessings, blessings” in the face of their mountain.  They were not denying their mountain…they were defying it through the authority of the Spirit.  ‘So, big mountain, who do you think you are?’

Now remember, they were actually being exhorted to shout, “with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace, to it.”…not to simply say or casually repeat some words.  There is a genuine place for the shout in the unfolding of the will of God in our lives!  It is not something we just read about in the Bible or sing about in our worship…it is an act of faith and prophetic zeal.  And when it is time to shout, nothing short of a shout will do!  When was the last time you rose up and literally shouted in holy defiance, “Grace, grace to whatever personal obstacle that is impeding your effectiveness and standing in the way of the full expression of the Kingdom in your life?

This very morning we began singing “Your grace is enough, your grace is enough, your grace is enough for me”.  It was in that divine moment that we were moved to lift a unified, coordinated shout of “Grace, grace” to our “mountains”, whatever they might be and no matter how overwhelming they might appear.  What a liberating moment!  What a soul-cleansing moment!  What a strengthening moment for each one of us and for the whole House!  His grace really is enough for me…and for you!

“Yes–and if you embrace this kingdom life and don’t doubt God, you’ll not only do minor feats…but also triumph over huge obstacles. This mountain, for instance, you’ll tell, ‘Go jump in the lake,’ and it will jump. (Mat 21:21 MSG)  So, let’s take up our own shout this day…being doers of His great Word and not just hearers only.  Have a mountain-moving week in the Lord!
